Dutch Books Info
There is a long and rich history of fiction and non-fiction originally written in the Dutch language. Although some are translated into various languages, many are not and therefore not so well-known outside Dutch speaking lands. A selection of translated books is shown in Translated Books.
There are too many well-known Dutch authors to include in a comprehensive list, but a small selection of novelists and poets taken from Wikipedia is: Willem Frederik Hermans, Gerard Reve, Willem Elsschot, Harry Mulisch, Simon Vestdijk, Hugo Claus, F. Bordewijk, Guido Gezelle, Hella Haasse, Jan Wolkers, Lucebert, Annie M.G. Schmidt, Remco Campert, F. Springer, Simon Carmiggelt, Cees Nooteboom, Tessa de Loo, Arnon Grunberg, Godfried Bomans, Belcampo and Jan Cremer. A good source is the Dutch Letterenfonds which shows books translated into English. Goodreads.com shows "Best Dutch Literature" and books written by listed authors. The P.C. Hooft award is a Dutch language literary lifetime achievement award established in 1947 as a Dutch state award.
Books written in Dutch can be obtained on-line from various sources. Best known are: eBook.nl, Bol.com, Amazon and Kobo.
